Axe Mix Tape – New beats from the street

We've got our ears to the (under)ground and we're picking up all the freshest hip hop vibrations from the Mzansi streets right now. Here's a list of what's hot and what's not this winter…

Reason – 'The Realest Verse Ever'

After a big social media build up ("Raezus Chris is Coming"), judgment day finally arrived and Reason dropped the much anticipated 'Realest Verse Ever'. The good news is IT'S DOPE, self-reflective and it challenges the Mzansi rap status quo. Nearly seven minutes of honest punch-lines right here.

iFani – 'Ayadelela'

iFani is not everyone's cup of Hennessey, but he's so fly that we can't help liking the guy. Check out his new  video for 'Ayadelela' (which features additional vocals by Musa Sukwina), shot on location in Cape Town and directed by Shamiel Soni. It's a party-rap jam for the whole fam…

Bongani Fassie – 'Stretcher'

Hot off the internet press… social media was set ablaze over Bongani Fassie's new single ' Stretcher'. The song disses some of Mzansi's biggest artists from AKA to Cassper Nyovest and K.O. He even lets rip on his former group member Da L.E.S. Let the battles begin!

Da L.E.S – 'P.A.I.D' (ft AKA & Burna Boy)

If you're into flash-money, gorgeous women and Ferrari's then the new Da L.E.S video for 'P.A.I.D' is for you! The local rap heavyweights are just plain flaunting it – "This Mandela money got me feelin' golly" spits Da L.E.S over a bass line that evokes the spirit of Dr Dre.

Radiofien – 'The One'

Mzansi girls are firing up the mic right now! Check out newcomer Radiofien's first single, ' The One', produced by Dutch of Showtime Records Africa. Radiofien drops a lot of sassy rhymes on this classic west coast, trap-infused beat.
